EXCLUSIVE: It started with a routine Australian passport renewal… aged 41, Troy Lee was told by Home Affairs he wasn't a citizen anymore, threatened with detention and faced being left stateless.

They claimed he was really Papua New Guinean but had no evidence and hadn't checked. Troy took them to court and won convincingly (and in a landmark decision that could have implications for Australians born in pre-independence PNG).
