It's a very special day on Friday for a lot of Queenslanders who will also become Australians because Friday is Australian Citizenship Day.

In fact, it's the 20th anniversary of this relatively unknown occasion but, when there's such controversy around the January date for Australia Day, why don't we just merge the two days together?

Kim Rubenstein is a professor of law at the University of Canberra, she wrote a book called 'Australian Citizenship Law in Context', and she was a consultant on the drafting of the 2007 Citizenship Act. Professor Rubenstein is chatting with ABC radio Brisbane's Kelly Higgins-Devine.
